A key member of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad looks increasingly likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

This comes owing to developments in the Blaugrana’s meeting with Villarreal.

Barcelona are of course currently locked in action, in a La Liga clash.

Fresh off slipping to a first defeat of the campaign in the Champions League in midweek, Hansi Flick’s troops have made the trip to El Madrigal, eyeing an immediate return to winning ways.

And, as things stand on Saturday evening, all three points is precisely what the visitors find themselves headed towards.

As alluded to above, however, an otherwise positive evening’s work to date for Barcelona has been soured considerably by a fresh blow on the personnel front.

Late in the first-half of action, Marc-André ter Stegen went to ground clutching his knee, in evident distress.

The German international was subsequently stretchered from the field of play, in a flood of tears, and with his head buried in his hands.

And, safe to say, ensuing word regarding Ter Stegen’s situation is of an altogether concerning nature.

As per a report from Barca insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS:

‘The first assessments, according to AS, are very negative, since there is open talk of a very serious injury to the right knee, which could mean that he has said goodbye to the season.’
