La Liga approve Barcelona star’s one-year contract renewal | OneFootball

The powers that be in Spanish football have approved a contract renewal for a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Iñigo Martínez as the player in question.

The Barcelona brass had long made the call to attempt to activate a one-year extension clause in defender Iñigo’s expiring contract.

This comes with the Spaniard having played a starring role in boss Hansi Flick’s backline across a fine campaign in Catalunya’s capital to date.

Deco and co, in turn, recently made contact with La Liga, in an effort to make their defensive star’s fresh terms official.

Initially, the Blaugrana’s request was rebuffed, owing to their financial situation.

Evidently, though, those in the boardroom at the Camp Nou have since managed to get their monetary affairs back in order. This comes amid confirmation on the part of MD that:

‘The contract extension of Iñigo Martínez for another season was validated by La Liga on Tuesday.’
