Newcastle United Women created several chances after equalising through Shania Hayles' second-half spot kick, but Sophie Whitehouse was on top form, pulling off eight saves.

Despite going behind, Langley was left frustrated not to leave with all three points but insisted she couldn't fault her players for their second-half display.

"I thought we were quite passive without the ball in the first half and looked like we were lacking energy, which is never good," she told newcastleunited.com.

"We improved in the second half and are frustrated to not come away with all three points because I thought we were the better team, but I suppose it wasn't meant to be today and I'm proud of the players for their second-half performance.

"I think their keeper has had an excellent game, pulling off some great saves from Beth Lumsden, and maybe on another day they rifle into the back of the net."

Newcastle's attentions now turn to their penultimate game of the season and final home match when Birmingham City Women travel to the North East on Sunday.

Langley is excited for one final hurrah at Kingston Park this season, and her focus is clear heading into Sunday: another home victory for the supporters to enjoy.

"We want to put on a performance for our fans," Langley added. "They've supported us in numbers this season.

"Whether we've been at Kingston Park, St. James' Park or further down the country, our fans have been amazing.

"It was a brilliant game for us earlier in the season against Birmingham where we took three points, and be sure, we're looking to do the same on Sunday."

Tickets for Sunday's game against the Blues, which kicks off at 2pm BST, are on sale here.
