The match between Atalanta and Lecce, initially scheduled for this evening and postponed due to the tragic death of the Salento physiotherapist Graziano Fiorita, remains in serious doubt.
The new date set, Sunday at 20:45, may not be respected by Giampaolo’s team, still deeply affected by the event.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Marco Giampaolo’s team has no intention of leaving for Bergamo.
Tomorrow only a light finishing session is planned, at the end of which Baschirotto and his teammates could return directly home without flying to Lombardy.
The club, led by president Sticchi Damiani, has unilaterally decided to take another two days off out of respect for the mourning, despite the lack of official approval from Lega Serie A.
The situation, however, clashes with the regulatory provisions: Article 53, paragraph b, of the Noif (Federal Internal Organizational Rules) clearly establishes that, in the absence of further official postponements, the team’s failure to arrive on the field would result in a 0-3 defeat by default and a one-point penalty in the standings.
