Leeds United are set to compete for the signing of Emmanuel Latte Lath this January
Leeds United are serious about entering the race to sign Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath amid competition from West Ham and Ipswich Town.
According to GiveMeSport, the Whites are weighing up an offer to sign the 26-year-old from their Championship rivals.
Latte Lath has earned a lot of attention this January following his positive season for Michael Carrick’s side.
The Ivorian has contributed 10 goals and two assists from 26 league appearances, having scored 16 times in his debut campaign in the second tier last year.
Leeds are set to join the race to sign Latte Lath from Middlesbrough this January, with multiple clubs now circling around the striker’s future.
It has been reported by Football Insider that a bid in the region of £15 million could be enough to tempt the Teesside outfit into a sale.
The likes of West Ham, Ipswich Town and Leicester City have all been mentioned as interested parties.
Leeds are eyeing a forward addition this month in order to improve their chances of gaining promotion back to the Premier League.
It has been claimed that Daniel Farke is working closely with chairman Paraag Marathe following Gretar Steinsson’s move to a larger role within 49ers Enterprises.
It is believed that Middlesbrough would be open to a sale if their asking price is met, with Leeds now discussing the possibility of making an offer.
Latte Lath has proven himself as a key figure for Boro since arriving in the summer of 2023 from Swiss side St. Gallen.
He has scored 26 goals in the Championship from 56 appearances, and has been crucial to the team’s promotion battle so far this term.
His departure could have a big impact on Carrick’s side, with the team in the mix for a play-off place.
Middlesbrough are currently fifth in the Championship table, two points clear of seventh place Blackburn Rovers.
It is surprising that Middlesbrough are open to the sale of Latte Lath this January, even if his agent has been quite public about a possible exit.
Given their promotion push, it would make more sense for Boro to wait until the summer before making any decision over the player’s future.
His departure would be a real loss for Carrick, and would be the second January in a row in which the club has sold an important forward.
