Fans of Leicester City Football Club will likely be pleased and buoyed by this update from manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Foxes boss has been talking all things relating to LCFC's squad in his latest press conference. The Dutchman was specifically asked about young starlets who are on the King Power outfit's books at present. When a suffering team's main stars are not producing the goods and the side constantly loses and can't score goals - senior players find themselves on the chopping block. And that scenario may be about to unravel on Filbert Way.
To be exact, the former Manchester United footballer and coach was asked about up-and-comer Jake Evans. Evans, an attacking asset who regularly plays on the wing and nets for City's Under-21s, is highly regarded by the club and its staff. He was expected to be involved in upcoming matches due to necessity, to be honest. Wingers such as Jordan Ayew and Bobby De Cordova-Reid haven't been able to produce goal involvements consistently.
Therefore a change has been called for by the majority of the Blue Army, which is the east Midlands club's fan base. In addition to fans wanting alterations to the lineup and exciting youth to be given opportunities, journalists have also began making demands to van Nistelrooy as well. In spite of Evans recently sustaining an injury, he has been positively picked out by his gaffer. And RvN actually hinted at potentially dropping some of his prominent men and including young players.
Meanwhile the Leicestershire team and the Dutchman are approaching an unenviable record. Is it too late for LCFC in 2024/25?
"They [Leicester] have lost five home league games in a row without scoring. No top-flight English club has ever done so six games in a row in the same season."LCFC Live
Ruud van Nistelrooy has alluded to giving youth a chance. Below is a quote of what RvN said about switching starters and substitutes:
"We have to be careful with our talents. Realistically, it’s very simple. When they’re ready and good enough and better than what we have, they’re going to have to play, because it’s the best for the football club.Let’s hope he keeps developing and can train a lot more with us. But we have to also be careful. Little injuries like he has now, we have to assess him, we hope it’s not much. He’s a great prospect for the future and hopefully the near, near future."RvN
