Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been handed a major fitness and selection boss ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final, with Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro reportedly now fit and available to him for selection.
United have endured a wretched Premier League season that currently has them in 16th place, having suffered 18 losses. However, they still have a chance to salvage their campaign somewhat by winning the Europa League.
The Red Devils are set to take on fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur at San Mames on Wednesday, in a high-stakes clash.
Not only is a European trophy up for grabs, but winning would also secure Amorim and his players a spot in next season’s Champions League. Being in the Champions League would come with a significantly increased summer transfer budget and instantly makes United a more attractive proposition for targets.
Dalot has been sidelined since last month with a calf injury picked up in the 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Portuguese defender has been a key player under Amorim and just before he was hurt, appeared to finally be grasping what is needed to succeed as a wing-back in the boss’ preferred 3-4-2-1 system.
Last week, Dalot spoke to the media and revealed he was hopeful of being back just in time for the final.
Meanwhile, Yoro sustained an issue during the recent 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham. The Frenchman was forced off in the early stages of the second half and immediately went down the tunnel limping.
The setback caused Yoro to miss last Friday’s meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Dalot and Yoro were always going to be in a race against time to be fit for the final and now, news outlet CentreDevils claim that the two have recovered.
According to CentreDevils, “Leny Yoro and Diogo Dalot have recovered from their recent injuries enough to participate in the game.”
“Whilst it’s not yet known if they’ll be starting the match, the defensive duo are set to be in Ruben Amorim’s travelling squad, making an appearance extremely likely.”
Between them, Yoro and Dalot have made 83 appearances across all competitions this term.
