PSG face competition from Real Madrid when targeting a Liverpool standout player. With his contract expiring in 2026, Ibrahima Konaté is at the center of several transfer rumors heading into the summer.

Milan Skriniar is currently on loan at Fenerbahce. Moreover, he’s likely set to leave PSG, so the capital club must target a new center-back. While nothing is official yet, PSG seem to be planning for life without Škriniar, making a replacement increasingly likely.

Back in February, Anfield Watch reported that PSG had strong interest in Konaté, adding fuel to the speculation surrounding his future.

A Paris native, Konaté is reportedly high on PSG’s list as they consider a move to bring him back home. He began his youth career at Paris FC before rising through the ranks at RB Leipzig. Now, he’s firmly in the conversation for a potential departure from Anfield.

According to Marca, Liverpool are concerned that Ibrahima Konaté could leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in 2026. The defender is reportedly showing signs of following a similar path to Trent Alexander-Arnold before his move to Real Madrid.

On Thursday, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reported that Konaté is pushing for a major pay raise, hoping to become one of the highest earners at Liverpool.

The 25-year-old wants a new contract that matches his standing as one of the Premier League’s top defenders. According to the report, Chelsea and Manchester City are keeping a close eye on how the situation develops.

According to The Times’ Hamzah Khalique-Loonat, Konate’s agent caught Liverpool’s ownership group, FSG, off guard by asking for a 150 percent pay rise—raising his weekly wages to £200,000. That would make him the club’s third-highest earner, behind only Mohamed Salah (£350,000) and Virgil van Dijk (£220,000).
