Arguably, one of the busiest team's this offseason (and now preseason) is the Los Angeles Galaxy. For a team that won their sixth ever MLS Cup title, their front office has certainly been aggressive.
A series of trades and additional signings have reshaped the roster significantly. Gaston Brugman, Jalen Neal, Marky Delgado and Dejan Joveljic are no longer with the team. Sean Davis, Matheus Jorgenson, Acsel Essengue, Christian Ramirez and Lucas Sanabria join the roster.
The intrigue is extremely present with this international sensation. Nascimento has caught many people's attention during his time with Botafogo. The Los Angeles Galaxy are among those who are paying interest.
While the MLS Western Conference juggernauts have made a habit of signing established veterans from overseas (for instance, Marco Reus, Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil), general manager Will Kuntz may be exploring a different approach in acquiring talent for his roster.
Head coach Greg Vanney has shown he can get the most out of his roster. LA Galaxy Academy product Jalen Neal is an example of that.
The young defender was a solid contributor on defense this past season and helped the team win the 2024 MLS Cup. He now plays for CF Montreal as his spot has been filled by Essengue and Jorgenson.
Nascimento, who turns 21 next month, has played for Botafogo since 2020. In more than 75 appearances, he has scored eight times.
In addition, the Niterói, Brazil native has represented his country on the national level (U15, U20 and U23). Nascimento has recorded seven goals during his tenure playing for Brazil.
The Brazilian striker would mark just the latest edition to the Los Angeles Galaxy should a deal be struck. If they can lock up a deal with Nascimento, they could be looking at the next generational superstar for years to come.
