‘Man City will have a bright future!’ Pep Guardiola DEFIANT after admitting it’s Liverpool’s title to lose | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola is adamant that Manchester City will enjoy a ‘bright future’, while admitting the Premier League title is Liverpool’s to lose.

Arne Slot’s Reds opened up an 11-point lead with a commanding 2-0 victory at Etihad, inflicting an eighth Premier League defeat of the season on the reigning champions.

City were outclassed by a rampant Liverpool as they continue to slide well below expectations this season.

Guardiola, however, has insisted that better things are coming for City despite their major drop off.

“If you analyse the game today, we were really good,” Guardiola claimed.

“We lost, and when you lose there is nothing much to say, but the way we played was really good.

“Both wingers were exceptional, Savinho and [Jeremy] Doku, all the young players. Except Kevin [De Bruyne] and Nathan [Ake] we were such a young team and they will be the future of this club.

“I recognised my team in the last two games in the Premier League. [Against] Newcastle and Liverpool, we were brilliant in both.

“The pace today [vs Liverpool], the rhythm, the pressing, the solidarity from most of them playing in difficult positions. I approve it, and it was really good.

“The tactic was to arrive in the final third and byline, it happened a lot but we didn’t score. We missed the next bit a little and with crosses it’s almost impossible to do it because of their size. We couldn’t find the next step.

“I saw many things that Man City has a bright future with the players that we have. What the club is going to decide in the next future, we have a bright future for the club in the next years.

“We’re far away [from Liverpool’s level], we’ll see in future. What we’ve done in previous seasons has been good, but now we’re away from them. We knew it. But the way we behaved and playing with the personality we played, it was really good.”
