Manchester United defender Harry Amass is set to stay at the club for the remainder of the season, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Amass was tipped to head for a temporary move away in the winter transfer window, but there have been no suitable offers.
The Red Devils had hoped to secure a loan that would provide the 17-year-old with regular first-team football over the next five months.
However, they insisted that any potential move be backed by a compelling development plan to help him progress.
His situation will now be revisited in the summer transfer window after this shock U-turn from the club.
Amass was part of United’s pre-season tour of the United States and showed glimpses of his potential.
Former manager Erik ten Hag praised Amass as a ‘big talent‘ but expressed doubts about his physical readiness to make the jump to the first team.
Interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy echoed those concerns during his brief stint in charge, keeping Amass out of the line-up.
Current manager Ruben Amorim has yet to place his trust in Amass, continuing to rely on Diogo Dalot in the left wing-back spot.
Patrick Dorgu joined United from Lecce in a deal worth around £29 million on Sunday. He is expected to provide competition to Dalot for a starting spot.
Cerro Porteno’s left-back Diego Leon will also switch to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer.
Their arrivals cast further doubt over Amass’ future at Old Trafford.
