Manchester United will go head-to-head with Manchester City for Atalanta’s Ederson.
Ruben Amorim has spoken about the need for his midfielders and team to play with the utmost intensity and this has resulted in Manuel Ugarte impressing in the centre of the park.
However, the future does not look so bright for Casemiro or Christian Eriksen, who have both struggled for game time since Amorim’s arrival at the club.
Therefore, it looks like United will need to head into the transfer market for more midfield signings. One player they have been linked to a lot is Atalanta’s Ederson and it has been reported that they may even consider a January move for the Brazilian.
What’s more, journalist Fabrizio Romano commented yesterday that United see Ederson as the “perfect fit” for Amorim’s system and have been watching him for a very long time.
Fichajes report that United will not have it all their own way as they will once again need to do battle with city rivals, Manchester City.
“Both teams are interested in securing the services of Ederson dos Santos, one of Atalanta’s most prominent figures in Serie A,” the outlet claims.
“With his vision of play, technical quality and ability to influence the development of the game, Ederson dos Santos has become a priority target for the Manchester clubs, who are looking to strengthen their squads for the next campaign.”
The player’s value is estimated to be in and around the €60 million mark but this does not seem to be an “obstacle” for either club according to the Spanish outlet.
Amorim is also said to be very keen on the Brazilian, considering him a “key piece to strengthen” the midfield department.
Both clubs are reported to be so keen on the midfielder that they would offer €70 million plus the inclusion of a player to get the deal over the line.
Ederson has been a standout performer this season for La Dea playing 23 games and would certainly give the United midfield a shot of energy it sorely lacks at the moment.
