The January transfer window marks Ruben Amorim’s first opportunity to shape Manchester United in his image. While more significant changes are expected in the summer, reports suggest Amorim has already set his sights on a key target from Paris Saint-Germain.
Manuel Ugarte, one of PSG’s summer signings, has flourished under Amorim in the past, demonstrating their strong connection. According to a recent report fromCaughtOffside, United was said to have been monitoring Nuno Mendes, who is valued at €70 million.
However, Manchester United’s pursuit of Mendes seems to be running into trouble. L’Équipe has reported that the player is reconsidering his future and is now more likely to stay at PSG.
Mendes’ representatives have even hinted at the possibility of a contract extension, with Luis Enrique playing a significant role in convincing Mendes to remain in Paris. As a result, Manchester United’s interest in the player appears to be cooling.

Le Parisien’s Laurent Perrin reports that Mendes is now keen to stay at PSG, and his contract extension is moving forward smoothly. It’s expected that he’ll sign an extension soon, following some rumors sparked by his camp about interest from Manchester United to help boost his wages.
With Mendes being an unlikely option, journalist Ben Jacobs recently reported that Manchester United are hopeful of striking a deal with Lecce for Patrick Dorgu for under €40 million, with club-to-club talks occurring on Wednesday. While Napoli remain in the mix, Dorgu is reportedly eager to make the move to Old Trafford.
