Manchester City will take on Chelsea tomorrow at the Etihad Stadium. The Premier League fixture is a crucial match in both team’s chase for a top-four finish this season. Heading into tomorrow’s match Pep Guardiola’s side will be without Jeremy Doku and Ruben Dias. It is a huge blow for City ahead of a massive match for his team.
Pep Guardiola was asked what players were ruled out for tomorrow’s match during his pre-game press conference. He told the media: “We have the same injuries, we had [before]. Ruben and Doku are out. The other players out are [still] out.”
Nathan Ake and Rodri join Jeremy Doku and Ruben Dias on the sidelines for tomorrow’s match. The loss of Dias and Doku is a huge blow for Pep Guardiola’s side. Ruben Dias is Manchester City’s defensive leader and City’s defence tends to struggle without him. We saw this after he was taken off at halftime due to injury during City’s 4-2 defeat to PSG. The Manchester City defence crumbled without their leader. The hope is that the injury suffered by Dias isn’t too serious.
Jeremy Doku missed the PSG fixture due to injury. He picked up an injury late in Manchester City’s 6-nil win over Ipswich Town last Sunday. Doku was arguably City’s man-of-the-match at Portman Road and he had appeared to be in great form for what lies ahead for his team.
The loss of Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku for tomorrow’s match is a blow for Manchester City. They must beat Chelsea tomorrow and now they’ll have to do it with several key players out due to injury.
