Five Red Devils players timing returns for Ruben Amorim’s arrival
Ruben Amorim could be set for an almost full-strength squad to work with as he takes over at Manchester United.
Ruud van Nistelrooy signed off as interim manager with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Leicester.
And with Amorim starting work as Erik ten Hag’s successor on Monday the prognosis is positive on a number of United’s injured players.
Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo are both closing in on returns, as are longer-term absentees Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia.
Here’s a look at the latest Manchester United injuries...
Yoro is yet to make his competitive debut for United after suffering a foot injury on the pre-season tour of the USA following his big-money move from Lille.
The 18-year-old is close to a comeback after completing rehabilitation following successful surgery.
Van Nistelrooy said: “He’s been managed very well after his injury in pre-season. It was obviously going to be a long one.
“Big moment, first time back in team training. He’ll be back partially over the coming weeks, and we’ll look to get him on board as quick as possible.”
Potential return date: Sunday 1 December vs Everton
Mainoo has also been missing since the Villa game after suffering a muscle injury in the final stages at Villa Park.
Before the 3-0 victory over Leicester, Van Nistelrooy said: “Kobbie is also progressing in his injury, he’s making the right steps, but is not yet with the team, though. That needs a bit more time.”
Potential return date: Sunday 24 November vs Ipswich Town

Shaw hasn’t featured for United yet this season after struggling with a calf injury, but he is now closing in on a return after appearing in training ahead of the win over Leicester.
Earlier this week, Van Nistelrooy said: “Luke [is] also doing pitch work like he did today. He’s progressing [and will] hopefully [be in] partial team training soon.”
Potential return date: Sunday 24 November vs Ipswich Town
Maguire has missed seven games for United after limping off at half-time during their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa last month with a leg issue.
Before the 2-0 win over PAOK on Thursday, Van Nistelrooy said: “Harry is still inside working on his rehab.”

Malacia is closing in on his long-awaited comeback after missing nearly 18 months with a knee injury.
Before the Leicester game, Van Nistelrooy said: “Tyrell is the furthest [along] at the moment. He’s been part of team training for a couple of weeks now, fully with no restrictions.
“It’s good for him to play game minutes; maybe in the U21s, we have to see.”
Potential return date: Unknown
