Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has offered himself to Atletico Madrid, as per reports.
The United board made a big mistake letting Marcus Rashford and Antony depart without bringing in their replacements in the winter window.
Amad Diallo’s season-ending injury has only made things worse for Ruben Amorim, who has struggled to get his ideas across this season.
The United head coach desperately needs new attacking reinforcements in the summer. However, due to the Premier League’s PSR rules, INEOS are unlikely to oversee a transformational transfer window. If anything, the attack could weaken even more.
According to Fichajes, Garnacho wants to return to Madrid and has expressed his desire to join his former club in the summer.
The Spain-born Argentina international joined United’s academy from Atletico in 2020. After graduating, he established himself as a key part of Erik ten Hag’s attack at United.
However, the 20-year-old, who has eight goals and six assists across all competitions this term, has not appeared at his best in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system which is more suited to wide playmakers than direct wingers behind the striker.
During the winter transfer window, United were open to listening to offers for the Argentine, underlining he isn’t considered an indispensable cog in the new project.
As per the Spanish outlet, Garnacho has offered himself to Atletico as he believes now is the right time to return to Spain and play under Diego Simeone.
It is further suggested that the young forward’s relationship with Amorim isn’t very good.
Having said that, the “operation” is not going to be easy for Atletico, who may struggle to meet United’s asking price.
Late in January, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Mancunian giants were demanding £80 million for Garnacho, who attracted interest from Chelsea and Napoli.
