Nuno Mendes joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Sporting CP in the summer of 2021. He has been on a rising spree since then and has established himself as a mainstay in the squad. Though he has struggled with injuries in recent times, he has made an impact whenever he took onto the field.

Mendes has featured in 16 games in the ongoing campaign so far, netting two goals and providing two assists. He is averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 1.8 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Portuguese left-back is a physically strong, intelligent, and aggressive player. He provides solidity in the backline and does timely tackles. From the attacking aspects, he is always a threat on the counter-attack as he possesses dribbling, passing, and creative skills.
Manchester United’s interest in Nuno Mendes is understandable as Luke Shaw has become a liability. The left-back has a recurring fitness concern while Tyrell Malacia is unavailable for a long period due to a knee injury. In these conditions, it’s natural for the Red Devils to go after a left-back in the market.
Nuno Mendes can be good choice considering the qualities he possess. He can contribute significantly in both aspects of the game. His playing style will be well suited in Ruben Amorim‘s system, who likes to play attacking full-backs.
Mendes has 18 months left on his contract with the French side and the renewal talks have been put on hold for now. Hence, Manchester United will have a decent chance of bringing the 22-year-old home. However, PSG might not prefer selling the hot property and will try to extend his stay.
