Mikel Arteta has urged the Arsenal fans to create an atmosphere “that we haven’t seen” when his side host PSG in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The Gunners host the French champions on Tuesday at the Emirates and while Arteta says the atmosphere in the previous round against Real Madrid was special, he urged the supporters to make it even better this time around.
When asked if the club’s supporters must replicate that atmosphere, Arteta responded: “More! Tomorrow, more.
“I told them that I’m not exaggerating when I said guys, bring your boots, bring your shorts, bring your t shirts and let’s play every ball together.
“You want to do something special? That place has to be something special, something we haven’t seen.
“I really hope that everybody who comes to the Emirates and is watching and following us brings that energy with them.”
Arteta is set to welcome back Mikel Merino and Ben White to his squad after the duo missed the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last week, but Jorginho and Riccardo Calafiori have not trained with the team and look set to miss out again.
And the Arsenal boss issued a rallying cry to his players ahead of the game, insisting this will be a measure of how good they really are.
“This is a moment now to say this is who we are as a team, this is who I am as an individual and express themselves,” he said.
“Now it’s about where are the limits? And how far am I able and I want to go?
“We have a massive opportunity as a club, as supporters, to demonstrate who we are and how far we still want to go together.
“It’s an incredible opportunity. We are here to make people happy, to create history and we are very close. Now we have to take the opportunity and make it happen.”
