Wednesday’s reports claim that Milan are also looking to appoint a director of football as well as a new sporting director in the coming weeks as CEO Giorgio Furlani looks to overhaul the senior management structure in San Siro.
Milan do not currently have an active sporting director, but have been taking steps towards an appointment over the last few weeks, with Igli Tare and Fabio Paratici the frontrunners as things stand.
However, according to reports from Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri are also considering appointing a new director of football alongside the new sporting director. The director of football will reportedly oversee and manage the relationship between the first-team and the board, ie. somebody who is adept both tactically and ‘politically’.
Wednesday’s report has mentioned some early candidates for the role. One of the desired attributes is a director who has a pre-existing relationship with the club, and one who understands the importance of representing a team on the scale of Milan.

One possible option is five-time Serie A winner Demetrio Albertini, who has previously served as vice-President of the FIGC.
Another potential option is two-time Champions League winner Massimo Ambrosini, who is reportedly valued very highly by those currently at Milan.
