Milan suffered another forgettable defeat as fellow European hopefuls Bologna came from behind to win 2-1 at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Sergio Conceicao got the taste of his own medicine, with the Rossoneri throwing away a halftime lead in a second consecutive Serie A loss.

Last season’s runners-up have made a habit of overturning deficits and turning them into victories under Conceicao. However, they were on the receiving end of that scenario tonight. Rafael Leao fired Milan in front late in the first half, even though Bologna had far better chances.

Yet, Vincenzo Italiano’s side replied quickly in the second half through sought-after striker Santiago Castro. The young gun equaled the score only three minutes after the break. More importantly, Bologna continued to dominate the game, creating chances at will.

Despite fending off Rossoblu’s attempt to complete the turnaround, Milan eventually succumbed to pressure. Second-half substitute Nicolo Cambiaghi set up Dan Ndoye for Bologna’s well-deserved second in the 82nd minute.

After losing at Torino last weekend, Milan finished the round eight points adrift of fourth-placed Juventus. Tonight, they lost their first Serie A fixture at Renato Dall’Ara since 2002.

As a result, their Champions League dreams are in tatters, while Conceicao’s position in the dugout begins to

Without further ado, let’s look at our Milan ratings.

Milan (4-2-3-1)

Mike Maignan – 5.5

With two of Bologna’s four shots on target finishing in the back of the net, it’s hard to hail the Frenchman’s performance as there’s no sign of the end of his crisis in goal.

Theo Hernandez – 6

Following a decent display in Turin, the wantaway left-back delivered another disappointing showing, struggling on both ends of the field.

Strahinja Pavlovic – 6

The Serb’s arguably weakest display since Conceicao’s arrival saw him make several erratic interventions.

Malick Thiaw – 5.5

It was only a matter of time before the German would get penalized for his over-zealous challenges. Terrible anticipation!

Alejandro Jimenez – 6

Swooped in for Kyle Walker, the young Spaniard was porous at the back and couldn’t atone in attack despite completing numerous darting runs forwards.

Tijjani Reijnders – 5.5

The Dutch midfielder failed to live up to his high standard. Milan desperately needed his sharp passes in the final third, but they never came.

Youssouf Fofana – 6

Had it not been for his immense defensive sacrifice, the Frenchman would’ve had another game to forget. Clumsy in possession!

Yunus Musah – 6

Except for forcing Lukasz Skorupski to make a fabulous diving save to thwart his header, the USMNT starlet did nothing noteworthy on the right wing.

Joao Felix – 5.5

The Chelsea loanee tried to be the spark in the front third, but nothing went his way tonight. A player of his potential should be more clinical on the ball.

Rafael Leao – 7

Back on the scoresheet in Serie A for the first time since a 2-0 win at Empoli, the Milan talisman opened the scoring but then vanished from the field.

Santiago Gimenez – 6

Though the Mexican failed to score again, he chipped in with an assist. Milan didn’t create enough chances for him after he skyed the ball over the bar in the opening 60 seconds.
