Milan Primavera were held to a 0-0 draw against Lazio on Saturday after a rather dull game, with both teams struggling to create something extra. As a result, Federico Guidi’s boys could drop in the standings.
As perhaps expected, it ended up being a rather tight affair between Milan and Lazio, third and ninth in the standings respectively ahead of the game – though with just four separating the two. In the first half, both teams had their fair share of chances but it ended 0-0.
The theme, i.e. both teams creating chances but lacking the extra effort to unlock the game, continued in the second half. Victor Eletu came closest to breaking the deadlock with a well-placed free-kick, but the Lazio goalkeeper Davide Renzetti made a very good save.
Despite a couple of changes, Milan were able to find the back of the net and as the referee blew the whistle for full-time, Guidi was no doubt a bit disappointed. On the other hand, he had to deal with some heavy absences for this one: the likes of Maxi Ibrahimovic, Mattia Liberali, Matteo Dutu and Emanuele Sala.
Milan are still in third place as things stand, but they have played one more game and could thus drop depending on the other results. It’s just a shame that they weren’t able to follow up on the Monza win before the break.
