Crystal Palace are taking a keen interest in Romain Esse as the young Lions winger continues to impress on the Championship stage.

Romain Esse is another shining light developing in the Championship, as Millwall are beginning to unlock the potential of the 19-year-old, but will have to be wary of their Premier League rivals being interested.

Crystal Palace are reportedly showing a keen interest in the Millwall youngster, according to Alan Nixon, and the Eagles will hope to secure his talent after impressing in the second tier.

Palace have had an eye on the winger, and will certainly take the chance to step in if availability becomes more likely.

Millwall's prized possession has become a key starter under Neil Harris and continues to flourish for the Lions.

Despite interest now, Oliver Glasner's side will be likely to pursue a move after another season or two of development in the Championship.

The Eagles will have to be wary of other interest, and may have to move quicker than they once anticipated, with their Premier League rivals potentially seeking Esse's services.

Millwall in potential transfer battle with Palace over Esse

Esse has already established himself in a growing Millwall team, as Harris' side are developing an attack where Esse can improve to get to the Premier League standard Palace believe he has.

Another season in the Championship could be key if the fellow South-London club are to make a move for the youngster, but if the rest of the Premier League grabs his attention, Palace will have to move quickly.

This season is turning into the perfect environment for Esse, and his potential is only growing game by game. His performance in the Lions' 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers was another standout game for the winger on the right-flank.

His skillful attributes of flair, close-ball control and smooth passing, is something Glasner will look for in future transfer markets. Esse has similar traits to Palace's star man Eberechi Eze, who has been a revelation at Selhurst Park since his move from QPR.

Eze also came through the Millwall academy, which makes this move more likely to happen in the future.

With a player in the Championship exceeding his expectations of his age, it was always going to become more likely a move to the top-flight would come into fruition.

This doesn't mean Esse's move will be happening anytime soon, but a few more years in the Championship could represent him as the subject of interest from many top-flight clubs looking to challenge Palace for the winger's signature.

Esse is already building a platform with the Lions, and if he continues to improve, Millwall will do well to keep hold of him for another season.

Selhurst Park will be the perfect environment for Esse

As said before, like Eze, the 19-year-old could become another academy graduate from The Den, to join their London rivals.

Palace will see Eze as their main asset in their team now since the departure of Michael Olise, but the England international could have the same fate as the Frenchman.

There is bound to be interest in the 26-year-old, and with him entering his prime years, the attacking midfielder probably seeks the European stage.

This will give Esse the perfect opportunity. He is certainly miles away from the ability of Eze, but more time in the Championship could help him excel in Palace's attack.

They both have similar attributes and can both play in that number ten role, but Esse will have to develop his game in the middle to potentially contribute to more goals.
