Mohamed Salah became just the fourth player in Premier League history to score more than 100 goals at the same venue on Sunday, equalling Wayne Rooney's tally at Old Trafford with his 101st strike at Anfield.

"No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like," Salah said earlier this season. That would be difficult, given how frequently he has revelled in that particular burst of adrenaline.

Salah started the journey towards his second century of Premier League goals at Liverpool's spiritual home with a dainty penalty against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend. A new record seems to tumble each time the Egyptian icon steps onto the pitch, but racking up 101 top-flight goals in front of the same adoring public is a feat few have ever been able to match.

Rooney needed 201 appearances at Old Trafford (including three in Everton colours) to amass his 101 Premier League home goals for Manchester United. Sergio Aguero rattled in 106 top-flight goals on the other side of the city at the Etihad Stadium, while Thierry Henry enjoyed unparalleled success at Arsenal's Highbury.

The French icon boasts a sickening haul of 114 goals in 125 Premier League games at Arsenal's former home. In the club's last-ever outing at Highbury in May 2006, Henry fittingly scored a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic to guarantee qualification for next season's Champions League and celebrated his match-winning penalty by planting his lips on that hallowed turf.

"I actually kissed the ground goodbye because I knew it was over," Arsenal's all-time record goalscorer wistfully recalled. "I was never going to play in my garden again."

Salah may not have much longer to tear up his own favourite stomping ground. That aforementioned quote about never forgetting the sensation of an Anfield goal was part of a cryptic transfer barb. The record-breaking forward is approach the final few months of his Liverpool contract and has a queue of suitors tripping over each other to snap him up on a free transfer this summer.

Even if Salah does remain at Anfield, he's unlikely to surpass Ian Rush's staggering record of 185 goals across all competitions on the red half of Merseyside. The 32-year-old can, however, take solace from the long list of legends that he has already surpassed in the scoring charts, including Robbie Fowler (117), Kenny Dalglish (104) and Steven Gerrard (104).
