Daniele Bonera is at risk of losing his position as the head coach of Milan Futuro as results continue to disappoint, a journalist has claimed.
The Futuro’s winless run in the league continued as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Rimini in round 24 yesterday, but they really should have got all three points as a first-half penalty was not converted.
There was a bitter taste in the mouth after the 2-2 draw away against Ascoli one week ago as Milan gave away a late equaliser after a needless red card, with the collective knowledge that the team are running out of runway to turn things around.
Bonera’s side have now gone six games without victory in Serie C, and they remain third-bottom in the league on just 19 points from 24 games, meaning relegation is a real risk in the first season of a project the owners have pumped €12m into.
According to what is being reported by Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Bonera is ‘at risk of dismissal’ as the head coach of the team, and there are ‘reflections in progress’ regarding his position.
The next match against SPAL will probably be decisive, he adds, with a negative result perhaps enough to convince the leadership to take action.
