The KNVB’s prosecutor for professional football has punished NAC Breda for the rioters who went wild in De Kuip last September. The ruling, according to Voetbal International, showed that there will be a conditional punishment of one away match without fans.

At the end of last September, Feyenoord beat NAC 2-0 in the Eredivisie. After the match, things went wrong when a few supporters of the away team turned over a catering outlet that saw four of the Feyenoord employees sustain injuries. Shortly after the violent incident, NAC already pleaded for ‘maximum sentences’ for the seven rioters who were eventually arrested.

The public prosecutor of professional football has now decided that NAC itself will not get off scot-free. The club from Breda will receive a conditional sentence of one away match without an audience with a term of two years.

In a new incident, NAC is once again facing a match without away fans. This has already been the case once before this term, when the Pearl of the South had to play SC Heerenveen (4-0) without an away crowd. This had everything to do with the unrest surrounding the fireworks during the promotion match against Excelsior.
