The latest Newcastle United player of the month has been announced by the club.

The award for games played throughout January 2025.

The winner this time is…  Alexander Isak.

The striker in tremendous form.

Newcastle United player of the month official announcement – 31 January 2025:

Alexander Isak has been voted the men’s Sela Player of the Month for January, scooping the award for a third consecutive month.

The Swedish striker carried his prolific scoring run into the New Year, with six goals in January firing him into second spot in the club’s all-time Premier League goalscoring leaderboard.

Isak also marked January by breaking a 29-year club record held by Alan Shearer, after scoring for the Magpies in eight successive Premier League matches.

“That is the type of record that will be nice to look back on when I’ve finished my career,” said sak, who has found the net 48 times since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022.

“A few people had made me aware of Alan Shearer’s record after I had scored five or six in a row. To be honest, it was not something I was too focused on at the time. As a striker, I just want to score goals every week to help the team. Although, I did hear that Joe (Willock) had scored in seven consecutive games, so I wanted to beat his record!

“Overall, I’m just pleased that my goals contributed to a positive run for the team. We’ve now got a big month ahead in both the league and cup competitions. We’ll take it one game at a time but aim to go on another positive run between now and the end of the season.”

Speaking as he collected a hat-trick of Sela Player of the Month awards, as voted for by supporters, the forward took time to pay tribute to the Magpies fans.

“In this city, you can always feel the passion and support of the fans. We’ve got a great spirit within the team as well, so it’s easy to gather momentum once you’ve picked up a couple of good results.

“I want to thank the fans for their incredible support, and hopefully we can continue to repay them on the pitch during an important month for us.”
