Newcastle United take on Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday knowing a win will all but secure Champions League qualification.
Given their superior goal difference over Aston Villa, three points in North London should be enough to secure a return to Europe’s elite. Victory will also take Newcastle above Arsenal and into second, as the club target a first runners-up finish in the Premier League since 1997.
Newcastle have already beaten Arsenal three times in all competitions this season, without conceding a goal.
Arsenal will also confirm their place in the Champions League with a win. However, the Gunners are on a run of five games without a win in all competitions, following last weekend’s draw at Liverpool.
Sven Botman is set to miss out for Newcastle after picking up a knee issue in last weekend’s win over Chelsea. Former Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock is also a a major doubt, while none of Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, Lewis Hall or Matt Targett will feature.
Jamaal Lascelles has returned to training after an ACL injury but the clash will come too soon. Emil Krafth is expected to feature as part of a three-man central defence in North London.
Newcastle predicted XI: Pope; Krafth, Schar, Burn; Murphy, Tonali, Guimaraes, Livramento; Barnes, Gordon; Isak.
Arsenal host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday May 18th 2025. Kick-off in North London is 16:30 BST.
Arsenal vs Newcastle is available to watch on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Go UK and NOW UK.
