Alan Shearer has a ‘little’ bit of insight into what makes a good, even great, striker.

He has no doubts about this Newcastle United superstar.

“No one can stop him” is the Alan Shearer verdict on Alexander Isak.

This season, for club and country, the Sweden international has now managed an incredible 27 direct goal involvements in 27 matches.

Alexander Isak having scored 21 goals and got six assists this season, so far.

No doubt many Newcastle United fans are having this debate as to which is the best, however, Alan Shearer and Alexander Isak are completely different types of striker.

What they do have in common though is the ability to score and make goals, plus the fact they are world class, possibly/probably peerless in their eras.

The thing I do know for sure is that the two of them could have played together in the same team and can you just imagine the damage Shearer and Isak would have inflicted as a striker partnership…

Alan Shearer on Alexander Isak, after the NUFC star got his latest two goals (and an assist) in the 3-0 win over Wolves:

“He is the complete striker.

“He is in red hot form.

“No one can stop him.

“He has got this belief and confidence and there is no doubt that he has the ability.

“He does his bit defensively, which he has to do in this Newcastle team.

“Everything about his game is great.

“He is just so tough to mark.”
