AC Milan have confirmed that Milan Futuro have a new head coach after Daniele Bonera’s sacking, with Massimo Oddo returning to the club.
The club announced yesterday afternoon that Bonera had been sacked from his role after what has been a very difficult inaugural season so far for the Futuro. They sit third-bottom in the league and seem to be nailed on for the relegation play-offs.
On their official website, Milan confirm that Massimo Oddo has taken over as head coach of Milan Futuro, adding: “The club welcomes back Massimo and wishes him and his staff all the best in the job.”
Oddo, born in Pescara on 14 June 1976, played for Milan Primavera and returned to the Rossoneri in January 2007, winning the Champions League that season. As a coach, he has worked in Serie A, Serie B and Serie C so he brings important experience.
It has been a debut campaign plagued by losses from good positions, the unavailability of star players due to logistical issues and first team demands, plus a lack of discipline at times with some costly red cards.
To avoid the relegation play-offs and salvage a very tough situation, the Futuro would have to overhaul an eight-point gap in the last 10 games. They face bottom-placed side Legnago on Sunday, so Oddo’s work begins immediately.
