Official: Barcelona to face Real Betis in Copa del Rey Round of 16 | OneFootball

FC Barcelona opened their Copa del Rey campaign for this season with a victory over UD Barbastro in their first match of the new year.

With this win, the Catalans advanced to the Round of 16 of the competition. This round of the Cup will take place after the Blaugranes return from their Spanish Super Cup campaign in Saudi Arabia.

However, as SPORT has reported, Barcelona already know their opponents for this Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, as the draw for this tie was held today, and the Catalans have been matched with Real Betis.

This is not the most difficult match that the Blaugranes could have got, as they could have also been drawn with Real Madrid, who are going to face Celta Vigo, or Atletico Madrid, who will be facing Elche.

Still, this matchup is not going to be the easiest either, and the Verdiblancos have already shown their ability to put up a strong challenge to Barcelona in their recent La Liga tie which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Lewandowski opened the scoring for the Catalans in this game, before Giovani Lo Celso leveled from the penalty spot after Vitor Roque, who is playing on loan at the Seville club from Barcelona, was tripped by Frenkie de Jong inside the Blaugrana box.

Ferran Torres once again gave his side the lead in the second half, but his goal was undone by a Diao shot in the fourth minute of injury time, which salvaged a draw for Real Betis.

Still, Barcelona will be the favorites in this game, more so as the game is set to be played at the Montjuic. However, Hansi Flick will have to ensure his team does not repeat their mistakes from this recent game and get the job done to advance to the next level of the competition.
