Brest have announced that their Champions League knockout home games will be held at Guingamp’s Stade du Roudourou. The plucky Ligue 1 side have taken Europe’s premier club competition by storm for their first-ever continental competition. Brest have won four games out of a possible six. They drew against Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and lost to Barcelona. Due to the fact their Francis Le Blé home did not meet UEFA’s requirements, Brest had to play their Champions League games in their bitter Brittany rivals’ home.

With Brest punching way above their weight, uncertainty surrounded the stadium in which Eric Roy’s Pirates would play their home games in the latter stages of the Champions League – Brest are currently 7th in the standings and will at least qualify for the playoff rounds.

Brest president Denis Le Saint entertained the possibility of renting the 80,000-seater Stade de France, but the majority of Brest fans rejected the idea, given the Brittany city is a six-hour drive away from Saint-Denis. Instead, Brest will play their Champions League knockout stages in Guingamp’s Stade du Roudourou with a reduced capacity, to meet UEFA’s tougher regulations as the competition progresses.
