Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on a reunion with Manchester United star Marcus Rashford during the winter transfer window, according to journalist Gokmen Ozcan.

The England international has fallen out of favour under United manager Ruben Amorim. He has not featured in any of the previous nine games in all competitions for the club.

Rashford was spotted training with the first-team in the lead-up to tonight’s Europa League game against Rangers, but he is unlikely to make the matchday squad again.

Solskjaer has reportedly identified Rashford as a crazy transfer target, and he is ‘personally’ involved in the signing of the 27-year-old attacker.

Rashford reunion with Solskjaer would be a surprise

The United graduate is no longer in contention to play under Amorim. The Portuguese has constantly ignored Rashford after he revealed his desire to secure a new challenge.

AC Milan were in the running to land his signature on loan, but they have pulled out of the race. Kyle Walker will fill the void for the final non-EU spot in their squad.

Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona remain in the mix for his services, but Besiktas have now thrown their name into the hat under the recommendation of new manager Solskjaer.

Rashford played some of his best football under the Norwegian’s guidance at United, but the big question is whether he would fancy a move to Turkey.

Besiktas can offer him European football via the Europa League, but Rashford may prefer Champions League football, with Dortmund and Barcelona interested in landing him.

He is unlikely to join Besiktas on loan, but his stance could change if Dortmund and Barcelona pull out of the race over the coming days.

Even then, Besiktas are unlikely to match his £300,000 per week wages. Ciro Immobile and Rafa Silva are their highest earners at £162,000 weekly, and they may not pay more.

United will have to compensate his salary for a move to Istanbul to materialise.
