Riccardo Orsolini has claimed that Bologna will ‘get slapped’ in the Coppa Italia final if they play as they did against AC Milan on Friday.
Milan provided the first punch in the double battle with Bologna as they came from behind to win 3-1 at San Siro on Friday night. Orsolini actually opened the scoring in that game with a trademark strike, cutting in onto his preferred left foot from the right wing and curling one in.
Santiago Gimenez was summoned off the bench and he proved to be the difference-maker, scoring the equalising goal in the 73rd minute. Christian Pulisic then got the Rossoneri ahead before Gimenez secured his brace and the three points in the 92nd minute.
Orsolini was interviewed by Corriere della Sera this morning and as part of it he was asked about the final on Wednesday evening at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. MilanNews relayed his comments.
Against Milan you threw the game away. What does the defeat before the Coppa Italia final teach you?
“We were ahead and we thought we could control it, Milan didn’t give the impression of wanting to attack, we gave them the spark that rekindled them and we opened up like butter. If we play like that in Rome we’ll get slapped. We’ve understood what we shouldn’t do.”

How much does the defeat in the race for Europe weigh on Bologna?
“A lot, now you are forced to make calculations and depend on others. Now you have to win the last two games and hope, it’s not a good situation, it’s gotten much worse. But we are not the ones seen at San Siro.”
A win and a loss in the league against Milan. Who is the favourite for the final?
“On paper, they are in terms of names and prestige and then they are Milan. However, the games must be played and we know what to do and, now, what not to do.”
