FC Barcelona have been working on ensuring that their squad remains as competitive as ever. That means renewing the contracts of key players, while also assessing the future of less prominent players as well. For now, Barcelona has continued to give priority to renewals first.

Heading into the summer, however, the situation may be different. While the club could take a look at potential transfer targets who they would like to bring in, they could simultaneously also look to offload certain players in order to generate some much-needed revenue.

Even now, some reports are suggesting that the club has insufficient financial fairplay to continue with certain player contract registrations. However, there is a player who is now expected to leave the club in the coming summer transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Reshad Rehman), out-of-favor Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is now expected to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. With this news arriving through a very reliable source, it could finally spell the end of Fati’s journey with the Catalan club.

Over the last few weeks, it has been evident enough that Hansi Flick does not consider Fati to be a major component in his plans for the club. Despite once being hailed as one of the world’s top rising talents, Ansu Fati has since watched his career get derailed, primarily because of constant injuries and physical problems.

However, even with Hansi Flick reportedly having faith in the player’s ability to bounce back, it seems that he no longer has a place in the team. Even in the recent squad list for the game against UD Las Palmas, he was nowhere to be found.

Having been consistently excluded from recent squad lists, Flick’s indirect message seems to have been clear enough. Now, with interest from Turkey having been reported previously as well, it remains to be seen what happens between now and the end of the season when it comes to the 22-year-old forward and Barcelona.
