Pedro admits he wants to ‘stay here for another year’ at Lazio after helping them snatch a last-gasp 1-1 draw with Juventus, keeping them in the hunt for the Champions League.

It was an ill-tempered and tense encounter at the Stadio Olimpico, reflecting how much was at stake, because the teams were locked together in fourth place going into the weekend.

Randal Kolo Muani had put Juve in front with a free header on Weston McKennie’s cross, then Pierre Kalulu saw red for lashing out at Taty Castellanos nine minutes later.

Substitute Matias Vecino bundled the equaliser over the line at the 96th minute, on the rebound from a Michele Di Gregorio save on the Castellanos header.

“We put in so much effort during that second half and in the end managed to get the goal,” Pedro told DAZN.

“It’s a pity really, as we wanted to get a great win in front of our fans.”

The result means Lazio and Juventus remain stuck together in fourth place, but Roma could leapfrog them both with a victory away to Atalanta on Monday evening.

There are only two rounds to play after that, so the fight for Champions League qualification really will go down to the wire.

“There are another two games, one of which is against Inter, so if we want to pick up points, we need a great performance,” added Pedro.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona star has been at Lazio since 2021 and his contract is due to expire on June 30, but there is the option to extend.

Considering he has contributed 12 goals and five assists in 42 competitive matches for the Aquile this season, they are eager to keep hold of the veteran, even though he turns 38 in July.

“I am very happy with this team and the coach, who has put a lot of faith in me. I would like to stay here for another year,” confessed Pedro.
