Pauline Peyraud-Magnin shares her thoughts after renewing her contract with Juventus Women for another year.
“I think this is the first time in my career that I have stayed in a club for so long – at least, in a First Team, not at youth level, because I stayed in Lyon for nine years. AThis has a clear meaning: I love being here, I love this Club. I am tied to Juventus by a deep sense of belonging. For me, it is important, above all, to represent the Club and our team in the best possible way.
“My renewal comes just a few days after I lifted the Scudetto trophy, the sixth in the history of this fantastic team. Winning this championship was truly emotional, as my teammates have already said. It was a great feeling, also because we hadn't won it in two seasons. For us this year it was important to start well and, for me, winning the league was truly the main objective. It was very important to win a trophy again. The party last Saturday [May 10] at the Allianz Stadium was simply fantastic and was made even more special by Sara Gama’s last appearance. She was fundamental for our team, but I'm sure she will continue to be for women's football, even off the pitch.
“This Scudetto has multiple meanings. First of all, I think we won it because we worked hard and well together. This success is the result of a really tough year, in which we always pushed on the gas. We know how much we trained, how much hard work we put in.
“Undoubtedly, the strong unity of the squad was fundamental to winning this trophy. I think that, from the outside, everyone noticed our strong harmony. This year we were not just a team, but a family. We supported each other in the most difficult moments of the season and we came out stronger. On Saturday [May 17] we will play the last match of this long and busy year, the Italian Cup final against Roma. Also in view of this match, our cohesion will be crucial. Going into more detail, my relationship with Lysianne [Proulx], Alessia [Capelletti] and Emma [Mustafic] is excellent. For me it was important that this year the group of goalkeepers was very united, like the whole team, and so it was. I want to thank them because they have been really important for my personal growth. I hope I was important for them too. We get along very well, we have a lot of fun together. I also want to thank the goalkeeping coach, Stefano [Baroncini], for the last two years of work, he helped me a lot.
"Our goals will always be the same. We will try to go as far as possible in the Champions League and we will try to win as many titles as possible. We represent Juventus, we must have big goals. We know our quality, therefore we will try to win everything we can."
