On deadline day, Ismael Bennacer joined Marseille on an initial loan deal and earlier this evening, he published a heartfelt message to the AC Milan fans on his Instagram.

Bennacer seemed destined to remain at Milan until the final day of the transfer window, when Marseille came knocking just like in the summer. An agreement was reached between the clubs and the French side announced his arrival yesterday.

On his Instagram this evening, Bennacer published a heartfelt farewell message to the Milan fans, highlighting that his bond with the Rossoneri will remain strong and intact.

“Dear Milan fans,

“I never imagined that I would have to write these words, but today a new stage awaits me. This club and this city marked an important part of my career and my life, and I can only thank you for everything I experienced here.

“For more than five years, I gave everything for this shirt, worn with pride and passion, alongside extraordinary teammates and with the support of exceptional fans.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone I had the privilege of meeting – my teammates, the staff, the club employees and all the people who made this adventure so special. And above all you, the fans, for your passion, your unconditional and unique love that makes Milan a club different from all the others.

“A special thank you also to all the journalists and to the numerous fan pages on social media, who follow and tell passionately about the life of the club day after day and who have always supported me.

“Every moment spent on the field, every emotion shared with you, will stay in my heart forever. Nothing will ever erase these memories or the bond that I have in this club.

“I never liked talking about goodbye, especially when the bond is so strong. You never know what the future holds, but one thing is certain: my attachment to Milan will remain intact,” he wrote.

The midfielder has faced some backlash from the fans after reportedly forcing the move to France, but most will still remember the Algerian for his contributions over the year. The Scudetto season, of course, was the main highlight.
