AC Milan winger Rafael Leao is unlikely to be fit for Monday evening’s Supercoppa Italiana final clash with Inter Milan.

This according to Italian outlet SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. They report that the 25-year-old did not give positive signs in today’s training session, and will at most be ready to make a cameo appearance on Monday.

Milan winger Leao has been absent for the last couple weeks with a muscle injury.

The Portugal international did not feature in the Rossoneri’s comeback win against Juventus in the Supercoppa yesterday evening.

Alex Jimenez instead played on the left flank in that match. The young Spaniard has been deputizing in that role in recent matches, despite being more of a natural fullback.

Meanwhile Milan have something of an injury crisis in wide areas at the moment.

Apart from Leao, the likes of Noah Oakfaor and Samuel Chuckwueze are also on the sidelines right now.

The Nerazzurri had already beaten Atalanta in the other semifinal.

Naturally, the prospect of another Milan derby clash in the Supercoppa is an enticing one.

However, the Rossoneri will once again have to do without one of their key men in the form of Leao.

The former Lille winger has been hoping that he might be able to put his muscle issue behind him in time for the final.

However, reports Mediaset, that doesn’t look likely.

Leao worked individually in training today. He has been aiming to get back to full fitness.

However, there was little positive change in the Portuguese’s condition today.

Therefore, for Monday it would be hard to see Leao featuring. At most, Mediaset reports, he could come on for a few minutes as a substitute in the second half.
