Gameweek 23 acts as a useful reflection point for Premier League clubs as all 20 teams prepare to lock horns with the opponents they encountered on the opening weekend of the season.

Some will be longing to return to August so they can right the wrongs of the first half of the campaign, while others will be astonished by how much progress they have made since their 2024/25 opener.

Either way, there are some tantalising match-ups, with Chelsea's trip to Manchester City the standout fixture of another enthralling weekend of action. Saturday is full to the brim with narrative as the top three are all in action during the blackout afternoon slot.

Europa League excursions will be felt by Tottenham and Manchester United on Sunday, with both clubs desperate to turn the corner after challenging runs. The out-of-sorts duo are within just ten points of the relegation zone.

Here are 90min's projections for Gameweek 23.

There is no early kick-off on Saturday but there are five mouth-watering fixtures during the 15:00 GMT slot, with league leaders Liverpool among those in action. Having made ground on their title rivals last weekend, the high-flying Reds will be aiming to further extend their advantage as they host 18th-placed Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys will need a miracle to overcome Arne Slot's side.

Liverpool's leading competitors for the Premier League crown are in action, too. Arsenal make the trip to the Midlands in order to face Wolverhampton Wanderers as they aim to redeem themselves following last weekend's slip-up. The Gunners won the reverse fixture 2-0 and will be buoyed by the fact that the Old Gold have lost their last three league encounters.

Nottingham Forest will be keeping close tabs on the Gunners and Reds this weekend. The Tricky Trees currently sit third in the table and six points clear of fifth place as they seek surprise Champions League qualification. A trip to face in-form Bournemouth, who are unbeaten in ten league games, will prove a mighty challenge for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

David Moyes secured the first win of his return to Everton last time out as the Toffees toppled Spurs and they will aim to build momentum against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. The Seagulls have rediscovered their mojo following successive wins, including a third straight Old Trafford triumph last Sunday.

Newcastle United suffered a setback in their push for Champions League qualification as they were humbled by Bournemouth last time out, but the journey to bottom of the table Southampton should prove more fruitful. The Saints have accumulated just six points this season and already look destined for relegation.

The weekend's blockbuster fixture comes in Saturday's glamour spot as Chelsea visit Manchester City. Neither side are in particularly encouraging form, with the Cityzens surrendering a two-goal lead during their 4-2 humiliation against Paris Saint-Germain midweek. The Blues won last Monday against Wolves but had previously gone five matches without victory.

An all-London affair helps kick off Sunday as Brentford travel across the capital to face Crystal Palace. Thomas Frank has seen his side win just one of their last seven Premier League matches as their home invincibility has dissipated, with the resurgent Eagles primed to punish them following a run of four wins and two draws in their last six.

Tottenham were offered reprieve from their torrid spell midweek as they beat Hoffenheim in the Europa League, but they have still lost five of their previous six Premier League outings. They are currently 15th and just ten points ahead of upcoming opponents Leicester City, who have lost their last seven matches in the league as pressure grows on Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Graham Potter's West Ham United debut came against Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round and the Irons boss returns to the Midlands on Sunday looking for revenge. The Hammers stumbled to an underwhelming defeat to Palace last weekend and will be underdogs against the Villans, who suffered a disappointing European defeat in Monaco on Tuesday.

Manchester United were far from convincing on Thursday night as a stoppage-time winner saw off Rangers in the Europa League. After last weekend's woeful defeat to Brighton, Ruben Amorim's side must improve when they travel to Fulham in search of three crucial points. The Cottagers sit seven points above the Red Devils and will fancy their chances of piling more misery on the 13-time Premier League champions.
