Oxford United and Leeds United go head-to-head at Kassam Stadium this Friday in the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 20:00 on Sky Sports Football.
Oxford have 48 points to their name this season and occupy 17th position in the table, Gary Rowett's U's recording a much-needed 0-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday in their last game.
League leaders Leeds, meanwhile, are looking good - in large part because Sheffield United have crumbled badly in recent weeks. The Whites ground out a 2-1 win against Preston North End in their previous game and need another three points here.
The last meeting between the two teams ended in a comfortable 4-0 win for Leeds.
Daniel Oliveira (Playmaker Stats editor): After their brilliant 1-0 win at Hillsborough last Saturday, Gary Rowett’s side have climbed to 17th in the Championship table, sitting on 48 points from 42 games. Just one more win from their last four matches should be enough to secure survival.
But next up is probably their toughest test between now and the end of the season - a clash with promotion-chasing Leeds United.
The Kassam Stadium has been a tricky ground for visiting teams all year, and Oxford showed what they’re capable of last time out at home, pulling off a shock 1-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield United. So there will definitely be a belief in Rowett's squad that they can do it again.
That said, Daniel Farke’s side are right on the verge of clinching automatic promotion, and knowing how tough it is to get a result at the Kassam, they’ll treat this one like a cup final. I can’t see them slipping up - I’m backing Leeds to get the win.
Sam (AllDayLUFC): After two crucial victories against Boro and Preston, now is the time to keep the run going. Positivity has suddenly swung in once again after Sheffield United’s disappointing (hilarious some would say) drop off.
Seven points are what stand between Leeds and the Premier League again. It could be even less depending on the results of Burnley and the Blades.
Oxford are no pushovers though; they started the demise of our Yorkshire rivals and can pose a threat to anyone at home.
