Graham Potter has outlined his vision for what he sees unfolding in east London following his appointment.

The former Brighton boss has taken over from Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked yesterday, having held his first press conference ahead of our FA Cup match against Aston Villa tomorrow night.

Potter looked excited but measured when talking to the media, looking a man who is hungry and well prepared in taking the club forward and challenging at the high end of the Premier League.

“I’m very proud to be here in this position,” said Potter, as reported by whufc.com. “I hope I can do a good job and that the supporters will be positive about me. So far, the reaction has been really touching, and I can’t wait to crack on.

“You’ve got to come in and create a team the supporters recognise and identify with. That’s the process of coaching.

“Results are always the best way to convince people. When you get to the point when everyone knows what to expect and there’s belief, that’s what you want.”

Potter showcased his vision for the club too, outlining his desire to restore a team with balance that is hard to beat but also produces a brand of football that fans can get behind.

“Balance is the key word – you can be attacking but if you’re conceding goals, that’s a problem,” added Potter.

“Of course you want to attack and score goals, but like in life you need balance. I’m looking forward to meeting the players and learning about them, and I’ll do my best.

“It was important I chose the right option for me at the right time. As soon as I spoke to West Ham it felt right for me.
