Claudio Ranieri spoke in the post-match press conference following Roma’s 1-1 draw with Juventus.
The Italian technician praised his side for the performance.
“I am satisfied with the lads because this is a great Juventus, a team with character, absolute values and great determination,” he said.
“We expected a match like that, I said so in the press conference. So I can’t say they surprised us: they put us under pressure, yes, but it was predictable. We wanted to respond blow for blow, but in the first twenty minutes we didn’t manage to do so.”
“After that, however, we had a good moment for twenty minutes, and it was precisely there that we failed to score. First there was that header from Nico González deflected onto the crossbar, then that chance from Cristante, on which they managed to close out at the last minute.”
“And immediately after came the goal from the edge of the area, a real shame. But that’s football. Luckily we managed to equalize right away at the start of the second half.”
“From there the match took a path in which both we and they wanted to win, but with great attention to not losing it.”
He concluded, “I’m very satisfied with the performance, the determination and the desire to come back shown by my players.”
