Leipzig go into Wednesday's DFB-Pokal quarter-final on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Heidenheim.
Die Roten Bullen found themselves two goals down early in the first half, but goals from Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko earned them a 2-2 draw and spared their blushes.
The draw piles the pressure on coach Marco Rose, with Leipzig having won just one of their last seven Bundesliga games.
A win would be a welcome boost for Rose's troops as they look to move one step closer to a third DFB-Pokal title in their history.
Team newsIn addition to long-term absentees Xaver Schlager, Antonio Nusa, Assan Ouedraogo and Benjamin Henrichs, Leipzig will be without Christoph Baumgartner and Yussuf Poulsen.
Maarten Vandevoordt will be in goal at the expense of Peter Gulacsi, as he was in the previous two rounds of the cup.
Like Leipzig, Wolfsburg are coming off a disappointing result against one of the Bundesliga's bottom clubs, a 1-1 draw with Bochum.
It was the fourth draw in the last five games for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side, who sit eighth in the Bundesliga table.
Die Wölfe will be hoping for a repeat of their last meeting with Leipzig - a crushing 5-1 away win at the end of November.
Mohamed Amoura scored a brace in that game and could be the key man again on Wednesday, having netted nine times and provided eight assists this season.
Team newsWolfsburg will be without Maximilian Arnold, Kamil Grabara, Lovro Majer, Lukas Nmecha, Rogerio, Kevin Paredes, Mathys Angely and Bartosz Bialek, who are all sidelined.
