Real Madrid’s 4-4 draw against Real Sociedad in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal earlier this week pushed the men in white to the limits. In the end, however, they did secure their spot in the finale of the Spanish Cup.
With the team playing 120 minutes on the night, however, it is clear that the game did have its consequences and after-effects on the dressing room who are fatigued and have little time to recover before the league clash against Valencia.
Rubbing salt into the wounds is an update from Jorge C Picon which confirms that the Merengues were dealt a serious injury blow against the Basque side.

As furthered by the Spanish journalist, Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin left the game against La Real with a muscular blow and is still far from comfortable ahead of Real Madrid’s next game.
Considering that he himself entered the starting dynamics after Thibaut Courtois faced a fitness blow, the situation is complicated for Carlo Ancelotti who may be without his two best goalkeepers against Valencia.
The Ukrainian star is working hard to recover from his setback and return to the field for the crucial La Liga game. However, nothing is a given at this point in time.
Lunin has a strain in his soleus muscle and it persisted yesterday on Real Madrid’s rest day. While not a serious blow, the setback is enough to keep Lunin in discomfort, something that is not ideal for a high-stakes game in La Liga.
A final decision over his participation will be taken tomorrow in the session before the game against Los Che. With Courtois completely ruled out and only scheduled to return next week, the manager will hope Lunin can hasten his recovery in time.
