Real Madrid’s interest in Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to make headlines, with fresh reports from Fabrizio Romano indicating that the Spanish giants are determined to secure his signature.

Despite Liverpool’s firm stance against any January move, Real Madrid are staying focused on a potential deal to sign the right-back as a free agent in July.

The 26-year-old defender has been on Real Madrid’s radar for months, with the club reportedly initiating their pursuit as early as March.

According to the journalist, Real Madrid are now planning formal talks with Alexander-Arnold’s representatives this month, now that negotiations are legally permitted.

Their intent is clear—Alexander-Arnold is seen as the ideal candidate to strengthen the right side of their defence.

Real Madrid made a desperate attempt

Earlier, Real Madrid attempted to speed up the process by offering Liverpool €15 million for a winter transfer. However, Liverpool immediately rejected the offer, remaining firm in their efforts to keep the player.

The Reds are still hopeful of reaching an agreement with Alexander-Arnold over a new contract, as they have not received any concrete signals from his camp suggesting he wants to leave.

For now, all signs point towards Alexander-Arnold staying at Liverpool until the end of the season. In fact, sources close to the player have indicated that he is not considering a mid-season exit, despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

This leaves the summer transfer window as the most likely time for any potential move to materialise.

Priority for Real Madrid

Real Madrid, meanwhile, continue to prioritise Alexander-Arnold over other targets, including Alphonso Davies.

The club’s management believes the Liverpool full-back’s style of play fits perfectly into their system.

With a proven track record and the ability to adapt to different tactical demands, Alexander-Arnold is seen as a long-term solution for Madrid’s defensive needs.

While Liverpool remain hopeful of retaining their star, the prospect of losing Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid remains a very real possibility.

This month will likely determine whether the Reds can convince him to stay or if he will embark on a new chapter in Spain.
