Real Madrid star Lucas Vázquez has revealed his frustration with the tactics employed by city rivals Atlético during Saturday’s Madrid Derby.
The headline fixture of the La Liga weekend of course played out in Spain’s capital last night.
In a crunch top-of-the-table showdown, Real Madrid welcomed Diego Simeone’s Atlético to the Santiago Bernabéu for a derby clash.
When all was said and done, the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, owing to a 1-1 stalemate.
This came after Julián Alvarez’s first-half spot-kick was cancelled out by Kylian Mbappé on the far side of the interval.
One individual, however, evidently of the opinion that Real Madrid were more deserving of the victory on Saturday is the aforementioned Lucas Vázquez.
Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, defender Vázquez made use of the opportunity to aim something of a dig at Atlético, explaining:
“They were winning having done practically nothing. It (the penalty) changed the game. From what we saw on the pitch, I think only one team wanted to win.”
