As we approach a crucial phase of the campaign, the future of Luka Modric has once again become a talking point at Real Madrid.
The Croatian international, who starred for Los Blancos in the recent 2-0 win over Girona has once again won hearts with his performances and committment this season.
This has led to speculation over whether or not he will continue at the Santiago Bernabeu next season, with his current deal expires in June.
Amid widespread speculation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered a fresh update on Modric’s future.
The Italian journalist claims there is a growing feeling between Real Madrid and Modric that an agreement can be reached over a new deal.
The new deal will likely to see the Croat continue another season at the Bernabeu. It was earlier reported that Modric, for his part, is keen on continuing at the club.

It appears the midfielder wants to play for Real Madrid at the age of 40 – a feat that no one has achieved in the past.
If there is anyone who can achieve this feat, it is indeed Modric, who has performed consistently at the highest level of football even at the age of 39.
Real Madrid are very happy with their club captain – not only with his on-field displays but also his leadership and professionalism.
In fact, Real Madrid believe seeing what Modric is doing at this age is a perfect example for young midfielder rather than being a deterrent.
That being said, both Real Madrid and Modric realise that this is not the right time to make a decision on the player’s future.
Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see Los Blancos take a final call on the midfielder’s contract renewal later on in the campaign.
