Speaking to Sky Germany following RB Leipzig’s elimination from the DFB Pokal, Red Bull Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff has addressed Jürgen Klopp potentially becoming their new head coach.

Following the sacking of Marco Rose as Leipzig head coach at the weekend, the Saxony side has begun searching for their new permanent head coach to hire in the summer, while Zsolt Löw takes interim charge.

Oliver Glasner and Roger Schmidt have both been linked to the role, but it has also been speculated by some media outlets that Klopp could be an option in what would be a shock return to management. At the beginning of the year, the former Liverpool head coach was appointed Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull.

On if Klopp could be appointed as RB Leipzig head coach in the summer, Red Bull Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff said:

“I would do that before then. And nobody wants to see that. So I can rule that out 1000 percent,”

It is safe to say, Klopp is then as likely to take charge of Leipzig in the summer as he is to replace Christian Horner as Red Bull Racing team principal. On second thought, considering the state of RBR, I wouldn’t rule it out.
