Milan star Tijjani Reijnders insists the city of Milan belongs to the Rossoneri as Inter could not beat them once this season, but his biggest dream is to win the 20th title for the Diavoli next season.
Reijnders was among the goal scorers in Milan’s 3-0 win over city rivals Inter on Wednesday.
The victory allowed the Rossoneri to qualify for the Coppa Italia Final and finish the campaign unbeaten in five games against the Nerazzurri.
“Milan is red and black because Inter couldn’t beat us once this season,” Reijnders told Gazzetta.
“We showed what we are capable of. The last one was the best of the five derbies played.”
Performances against other clubs have not matched the Rossoneri’s excellent results against their city rivals, as they currently sit 9th in the Serie A table, outside a European placement.
“We haven’t been consistent enough in terms of performance and dropped points along the way,” admitted the Dutch midfielder.
“Winning the Coppa Italia would allow us to take part in European competitions next season and we must go for it. We were like hungry dogs out there and on top of that, we showed the quality that hasn’t always been there this season.

“There’s no real explanation, other than we were not consistent. A clear example is winning at the Bernabeu and then drawing in Cagliari. If you want to fight for the title, you can’t afford that.”
Milan will face Bologna in the Coppa Italia Final on May 14.
“We’ll face a strong opponent that plays good football based on possession. They have quality in attack, especially on the wings. It will be tough,” said Reijnders.
“Compared to the league game we lost, we play differently now, and I’m convinced we’ll do better. We’re confident because we are Milan and we have a quality squad.”
The Netherlands international has recently signed a contract extension with the Rossoneri.
“Living in Italy and playing for a club like Milan is a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. My family is happy here,” he said.
“When I was offered a contract extension, it was a no-brainer. I want to thank the club: the management moved quickly to reach an agreement.”
The talented midfielder also has clear ideas about his next targets.
“Winning trophies. This season we can win two, but my biggest dream for next season is to add a second star above Milan’s badge. I’m in love with this jersey and it is an honour to wear it.”
Lastly, he commented on his relationship with Rafael Leao, who provided an assist for his goal against Inter on Wednesday.
“We have a great connection on the pitch. I always look for him with long passes. Leao is amazing, everyone knows how strong he is, and it’s great to have him as a teammate.”
