Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Dario Essugo according to reports in Portugal.
The Blues announced the shock signing of Geovany Quenda on Friday and it’s believed they will pay Sporting around £40m for the 17-year-old.
Quenda will spend next season on loan at Sporting and will link up with his new team-mates in the summer of 2026.
The Blues had a disappointing January window, but have now completed two signings for 2026 with Brazilian full back Denner joining Quenda.
Chelsea are facing a critical summer window, arguably the most important under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.
The Blues need to add a striker and centre back to their squad and they’ve been linked with Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko and Marc Guehi.
However, it appears a new midfielder could be on the way in the form of another Sporting Lisbon player Essugo, who is 20-years-old.

Portuguese outlet A Bola have reported the Blues have reached an agreement for Essugo worth €22m with no add ons, and he will be a Chelsea player next season.
Essugo is currently on loan at Spanish side Las Palmas in La Liga where he’s impressed in the 17 appearances he made this season.
Chelsea were linked with a move for Essugo at the end of the January window, before deciding to sign Mathis Amougo from St Etienne.
Fabrizio Romano had reported Chelsea were still in conversations with Sporting over Essugo, but it appears things could have advanced.
Chelsea are already well stocked in midfield with Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, whilst Andrey Santos will return from Strasbourg in the summer.

With the Blues set to compete on four fronts next season and given Lavia’s injury record they could need five midfielders to deal with the demands of a long campaign.
If the deal for Essugo goes through it would likely spell the end for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Lesley Ugochukwu at Stamford Bridge.
